Governance
The Shanghai Foreign Correspondents Club is governed by a board of directors. All members of the board have equal responsibility for deciding organization policy, approving new members and planning events.
The SFCC board includes the positions of:
President
The president serves as the figurehead of the club and as liason with the Shanghai government's Foreign Affairs Office and Shanghai Information Office. Position of the president is elected once per year by journalist members of the club and is open only to accredited journalist members.
Vice President
The vice president fills in for the president during absence, and is also charged with the logistical practicalities of the organization. Vice president is elected annually by journalist members.
Treasurer
Treasurer handles club finances, and has access to the club bank account along with the president. The position of treasurer is appointed by the board. Ideally positions of treasurer and membership coordinator are filled by the same person.
Membership Coordinator
Membership coordinator processes membership applications and maintains the membershp database and mailing list. The membership coordinator is appointed by the board.
Associate Representative
The associate representative is elected by the club's associate members and represents their interests to the board.
Media Representative
The media representative is elected by the club's media members and represents their interests to the board.
Elections:
Elections are held annually in November of each year for the following year. Should a position be vacated, it will be filled temporarily by the board with the consent of the membership. Only journalist members may vote on club policy and on the positions of club president and vice president. Associate members may vote on the Associate Representative, and Media members may vote on the Media Representative.
